Highlights of Big Little Lies Season 1 Episode 6

***Very Limited Spoiler Included

Wow, just wow! I really like this series, I never read the book, but the show is very well put together. This episode is my favorite, so far, because of the realness, I got from it.

That dinner scene was fantastic! When Madeline puked all over the table and on Bonnie, I almost cracked a rib laughing. I, however, would have slapped her.

Madeline is always a little bit cooky no-nonsense woman, who is not afraid to speak her mind. What really touched me in this series it the effort that she puts into relating to her daughter and trying to get her to reframe from making a detrimental decision. The fact that she was able to share her own personal mistake and drive home the fact that no one is perfect, especially her, was very touching and I applaud her guts.

Jane finally stood up to Renata and scratched that crazy woman in the face. That was a great scene. However, I like the fact that Jane was a big enough person to go and apologized. Renata while appearing gracious was fake as hell. She has something up her sleeve!! All will be revealed soon.
The dysfunction continues to progress between Perry and Celeste. While from the outside this couple appears to be perfect but they are really messed up and abusive to each other. In one of their scuffles Perry and grab Celeste's hair, and she used a tennis bat hit him where it counts, and he wound up with a broken urethra in two places. In my opinion, he had it coming!! Celeste also took the advice of her counselor and rented a secret apartment but does she have the guts to leave her very charming, very abusive maniac husband? That is yet to be seen.

That's all Folks. Check back next week for episode 7 highlights.

Review of Before I Shatter

Mostly Spoiler free review but little tidbits of information will be included to solidify my review.

I had high hopes for this novel, but I found too many faults to enjoy the novel fully.  My biggest issue was that the ending was too abrupt and felt very rushed. Additionally, the chapters were too short with too many internal breaks that cumulated to a very disjointed story. The characters development was very sparse even for the main character. There should have been more meat added to the back story of Vita to help us build a connection with her.

There were a couple of interesting characters in the book, and I would have like to see more of them, but this was not so. The overall plot felt very rushed even though the book was over 300 pages. I do like the premise of the story, but it fell short on its delivery.
The writing was a bit juvenile and simplistic which made it impossible to delve and get lost in the book.

As I have mentioned before, the ending was the biggest let down for me in that, I was not very surprised by the ending, and I was left feeling unmoved and not really looking forward to the next book.

Alert: mild spoiler ahead!!!
The best part of the book, for me, were all the scenes with Vita and James, you can tell that he loves her from both his covert and overt behaviors. Vita feelings for James is believable in that it wasn't an instant love connection but that she acknowledges that she could develop something deeper for him if given time.

I think the author as great potential, and I would read other books by her, but this one fell short of the mark.

I am giving this book 3 stars for its potential to become something better if the author spends more time on fully developing her characters and giving them more personality (hopefully this will be done in the next book).

A copy of this book was provided to me in return for an honest review.

The Arcana Series By Kresley Cole

I choose to skip book 4 (although I do own a copy) because it wasn't a full story but more of a compilation of data on all the major players in the Arcana Series, such as who they are, what powers they hold, and what they were doing on the day of the flash.

Here is what book 4 looks like

Review of all the book above will be posted soon.

The Novice by Taran Matharu: Short Review

Hello guys, So I was very excited about reading The Novice, and I liked what I knew about the plotline. Honestly, another driving factor...
